What the weather means for spraying
| Condition | What it does |
|---|---|
| Wind above 3 m/s | Drift of the spray cloud. Above 5 m/s, spraying is not done at all. |
| Temperature above 28 °C | The droplet evaporates before it dries properly, and there is a risk of scorch. Spraying moves to late afternoon or early morning. |
| Relative humidity below 40% | The droplet shrinks in the air and drift increases. Combined with heat, the worst hour of the day. |
| Rain within the next few hours | Most products need two to six hours without rain in order to dry. The rainfastness period is on the label. |
| Leaf wetness for more than six hours | The infection window for botrytis and for most fungal diseases. This is where preventive cover is decided. |
| A storm on the lightning map | No work with tall machinery, no trellis work, no sprayer. And afterwards, check the fruit for hail damage. |
